I'm on a facebook group and someone posted that a family in central america need a perkins brailler for their blind child and could anyone give one. I have one that I haven't used for years so I said sure...but I'm not sure what's the best way to get the thing shipped. Anyone who has seen one knows they are kind of bulky. So suggestions are welcome.

Because it is a device for the blind, the post office will ship if free matter.
Ask about it.
It goes slow, but will get there.
The Red Cross might assist you as well.

Is that true internationally? I know we have these labels for free postage for the blind, but I'm not sure if they are just valid within the UK.

I have sentg packages from the US that contained braille, or other items related to the blind this way, so maybe this is possible from the UK as well?
Other countries support the system.

You can send qualifying stuff internationally using Articles for the Blind.
